South Florida Peacock Bass

Peacock Bass fishing in Miami lately has been good. Our fish are the Amazon butterfly peacock bass which get only about 10 lbs. at the biggest. South Florida is the only place in the United States where these species can be caught. We've had three guided trips this month and all were fairly successful landing a few close to 5 lbs. So if the Brazil trip is unaffordable for Peacock Bass consider South Florida to catch these unique species. Contact us below at floridafishing@bellsouth.net for booking a guided trip for largemouth or peacock bass.

South Florida Peacock Bass 11-2-08

The last few weeks in South Florida for Butterfly Peacock Bass has been good. Our water levels have dropped from all the summer rains and are now cooling off which should increase the fish activity. We had two guided trips and they were quite productive. Each trip we used mostly shiners and jigs. The peacock bass usually run a little larger this time of year. I've seen quite a few large males swimming with females already. The water temperatures in the high 70's usually mean great fishing and spawning. It's great to see these big fish still swimming shallow in these canals. For more information about fishing South Florida e-mail us at floridafishing@bellsouth.net or call me at (954) 445-1811.

South Florida Peacock Bass 7-22-08

Just some more great fishing in South Florida for Peacock Bass. These Amazon butterfly peacock bass are stocked all over southeastern Florida in the Miami and Ft. Lauderdale area. Every lake, canal or waterway usually contains a fair to good population of these great fish. Today we were out and boated 22 peacock bass to 6 lbs. Not as big as the Brazil's giants but every bit as fun! South Florida Peacock Bass 7-1-08

Peacock Bass fishing in South Florida is still great despite a lot of heavy thunderstorms lately. We were out today with Dan Paszynski from Poland who now resides in Boca raton, Florida. Dan and I put 26 peacock bass in the boat up to 5 1/2 lbs. with two more that were 4 lbs. For this time of year the fishing is fantastic and should continue as long as the water management department can refrain from over pumping our waterways. South Florida Fishing 6-12-08

Just a little reminder that South Florida has the best fishing I've ever seen. We were out over on the southwest Florida coast last week to try tarpon fishing for the first time. I know this has nothing to do with amazon peacock bass fishing but I had to share this adventure with my readers. My first tarpon weighed 160 lbs. and took my 45 minutes to land this beast. If you can't make it to the Amazon in Brazil to catch the mighty Peacock Bass I think South Florida can fill in the need to catch BIG FISH! South Florida Peacock Bass Fishing 5-6-08

Greg Plano and his friend Ken from Miami decided to fish in their own backyard. Living down here for years the guys never had the pleasure of getting out and fishing peacock bass in their hometown. I'm sure this won't be their last time either! The guys boated 15 peacock bass to 3 lbs. in Miami canals in a half-day trip. All of their fish were caught on shiners. Thank you Greg and hopefully I'll see you guys back in the near future.

Two trips over the last week has produced some beautiful fish. Scott Jungmichael and his buddy Chris from Texas boated 26 peacock bass to 6 lbs. They've been here three times to land their trophy and they both did on this trip! Nice going guys and I'm sure you'll be back next year. Chris I'm posting you all over the internet with this beauty.

South Florida Peacock Bass Fishing 4-29-08

Would anybody like to catch peacock bass 2 to 3 times this size? How about 10 to 20 per day per angler? Well South Florida doesn't have them that size, but we do have is a great Peacock Bass fishery in Miami. Brazil fishing from March through August is usually slow because of high water. As water levels drop the fish are flushed out of the flooded jungle and become easier to target south in the Rio Madeira river. Then as the season progresses the camps and yachts move north into Rio Negro and it's tributaries. But in the mean time South Florida Peacock Bass fishing has been great and getting better each day. Today Hugh and Ruth Spegiel were out fishing with us and boated 38 peacock bass to 4 lbs. Thursday we're heading back to try for more great Miami fishing!

Butterfly Peacock Bass in South Florida

With the Amazon getting way to much rain now it's time to think about South Florida Peacock Bass fishing. Our season is heating up with two guide trips this week boating 44 peacocks up to 5 1/4 lbs. Jim Reed who has fished with us now 4 times got the big one this week. Miami peacock bass fishing is the only place in the continental United States to catch peacock bass. Amazon Peacock Bass Fishing Bookings

Now's the time to think about the fall fishing in Brazil for Giant Peacock Bass. These trips usually take a few months to get everybody together. Starting in July most Amazon operators position there yachts and cabins south in the Rio Madeira tributaries which is where the water is the lowest for this time of year. As water levels become to low they head north towards the Rio Negro moving on west from there. For more information on fishing Brazil check out www.amazonpeacockbassfishing.net or www.southfloridafishing.org. Peacock bass also inhabit southern Florida around the Miami and Ft. Lauderdale areas for anybody who doesn't want to travel to South America. Please e-mail me at floridafishing@bellsouth.net for current booking rates or fishing reports. Attached is the Mid-Week Fishing Report for 3 days

Fishing at the Fly In Floating Cabins continues to be good. The trade-offs between quantity and quality are apparent.

In only 3 days, a total of 2865 fish were landed by 40 anglers, 129 of which were in the 10 - 16 lbs. class, 5 were in the 17 – 19 lbs. class and 2 were 20 lbs.

These are true weights … sometimes in the Amazon the 17-19 lbs. class are also considered 20 lbs. trophies…

This is a current February report for the Amazon Peacock Bass. If you would like more information on fishing Brazil for Peacock Bass e-mail me at floridafishing@bellsouth.net
or check out www.amazonpeacockbassfishing.net for information on fishing the Amazon river in Brazil.

Peacock Bass Sports Show

The Peacock Bass display at the Chicago sports show went over quite well. Our booth drew much attention with the 15 pound Peacock Bass on the table. I was there to represent River Plate Outfitters in the Amazon deep in the Brazilian rainforest. Hundreds of interested peacock bass fisherman visited our booth and we hope to see many bookings over the next few months. Peacock bass fishing in the Amazon usually lasts about 9 months from July through March before the heavy rains spread the fish through out the jungle making the fishing impossible. So if you are ever interested in fishing the Amazon for big Peacock Bass check out our favorite site at http://www.amazonpeacockbassfishing.net/ or e-mail us at floridafishing@bellsouth.net for information on South Florida Peacock Bass fishing or Brazil big Peacocks.

Amazon Peacock Bass Fishing Bookings

Booking trips to the Amazon for Peacock Bass can be risking and rewarding for outfitters and their respective agents. Peacock Bass fishing is solely dependant upon low water levels that don't flood the jungle. Make sure while shopping around for outfitters your agent fully explains what may take place. In many instances you'll be offered to reschedule your trip which will make a much more pleasurable fish catching experience. Your better agents and outfitters are looking to please peacock bass fisherman on their first experience in the Amazon. My first trip to Brazil was quite enjoyable but the fishing was lousy but I didn't have to pay for the trip either. A full paying customer would be highly disappointed at the experience as far as the fishing was concerned. My outfitting company was so good that they offered me an all expense paid trip again, the problem is the airfare isn't cheap! But if that's all I have to pay I consider that a bargain! Just remember to discuss these situational problems with your agent/outfitter before booking to fully understand the fishing conditions for the times of year your considering traveling to the Amazon. Then you'll be aware and will probably come back year after year to enjoy the awesome power of the Amazon Peacock Bass.
