Amazon Peacock Bass Fishing

We will be in Chicago on January 16th, 2008 for 5 days to promote Amazon Peacock Bass fishing. The best time to fish Brazil is from October 1 st. through March 30 th. This is the dry season in the Amazon river tributaries which lasts about 6 months. After the rainy season starts the rivers and tributaries flood and the Peacock Bass move to far into the flooded jungle to provide any good fishing. This process repeats itself year after year similar to the South Florida Everglades system and largemouth bass. Amazon Peacock Bass Report

I just returned from Brazil deep into the Amazon rain forest fishing for Peacock Bass. It was a great experience. The food, service and hospitality of the people was wonderful. We fished for a week and the fishing was a little slow with only 40 Peacock Bass caught up to 16 lbs. The following week was much better with 2 Peacocks caught over 20 lbs and many between 10 and 20 lbs. Peacock Bass are probably the hardest fighting freshwater fish that swim! Most Peacocks are caught with topwater propeller type lures which can really excite the heart rate. Jigs and minnow type jerkbaits are also effective along with fly fishing techniques. If you are ever interested in more information about Peacock Bass fishing in the Amazon or South Florida check out this link at the bottom and they can help answer any questions you might have.

South Florida Bass Fishing 9-19-07

We'll we're leaving tonight for Brazil for monster Peacock Bass. But before I left I had to visit the Florida Everglades one more time to see if the largemouth bass were still biting. We did quite well considering the water levels are still up slightly. I'll be posting the peacock bass reports on the Amazon river on Sept 30, with all the great fishing. These pictures can be seen also at the above website when I return. As far as the size fish we caught I was quite happy. We boated in half-day of fishing 8 bass up to 6 lbs. with a total of 24 lbs. with our best 5 fish. The peacock bass and largemouth bass will continue to be good as long as the hurricane rainy season stays dry like it's been. South Florida Bass Fishing 9-11-07

The bass fishing has been pretty good considering high hot water. We were out today for a few hours trying to cope with the heat but happened to land 6 bass up to 5 lbs. in the South Florida Everglades. Most of these fish were caught on top with homemade lures that I make. The peacock bass fishing is also o'kay if you covers water quickly. They school up this time of year and swim around alot so move fast and find the concentrations of fish. South American Amazon Brazil Trip

It's less than 2 weeks before I head South to Brazil for giant peacock bass fishing in the Amazon river basin. I've received a report last week that many fish were caught up to 15 lbs. Now that will give you sore arms! We are expecting with the water levels dropping over the next few weeks the fishing to be awesome. I'm hoping for a few over 20 lbs., wishful thinking.
Can you imagine catching fish that big mostly on topwater! I'm not sure my heart can handle that.
